How We're Different

After taking thorough measurements of your basement space, we give you a lengthy detailed written proposal, a computerized AutoCAD drawing, and a clear explanation of our vision. This helps eliminate any unexpected charges and/or disagreements when we get underway. Although we pride ourselves on maintaining a strict schedule to meet our target completion date, we never forget that it’s your space, and sometimes making changes means making better. We’re always flexible and willing to do what needs to be done to maximize your Function Basement Design.

About The Owner

Hi, I’m Howie Coluzzi, founder and president of Function Basement Design. I reside in Wheaton with my wife Lisa and our three children Katy, Jack, and Bennett. After receiving my Marketing degree from Northern Illinois University, I entered the real estate sector. After many years as a custom home builder, I realized that the basement design/build market was virtually untouched. That lead me to start Function with one goal in mind: To make ugly space great space. I couldn’t do this without the great help from my wife Lisa, an interior designer with 20 years of professional space planning and design experience. Together, we talk about your space with your lifestyle in mind while sharing the goal of designing a space that is superbly functional and absolutely beautiful.
